We have booked AHEIA’s entire world class facility for CFGA Members and their families!
Registration is now open for CFGA members to sign up and purchase their spot(s)! Note: a portion of this camp will be ‘outdoors instructional’ for youth and adults both!
Location: “Alford Lake Conversation and Education Centre for Excellence”. The camp is 24.5 km west of Caroline, about 2 hours from Calgary. Paved except last 2 km of gravel road.
Accommodations:
- 14 RV spots with electricity (15 amp), more w/o electricity
- 16 cabins: rustic and smallish, each sleeps 6 in 3 good-sized wooden bunks, electric heat.
- Tenting sites: grassed areas (fairly open field near Main Lodge) or in upper RV campsite.
- Showers and flush toilets in the main lodge.
- Open meadow just outside the camp (trailers, RVs, tents) for those campers with a dog(s).
Notes:
- If you are a tenter or tent trailer person/family, you could ‘book’ a cabin as back-up in case the weather is rainy….
- Gates open at 8 am and close at 10 pm
Food:
Main Lodge has a shared kitchen with 2 propane stoves and there is a BBQ for use. Guests are welcome to bring their own camp cooking set up. There will be a BBQ Saturday night hosted by CFGA with hot dogs, burgers, side salads and non-alcoholic refreshments provided as part of the registration fees.
Costs (kids under 10 years old are free):
- $45/person for 2 night camp: CFGA members
- $60/person for 2 night camp: non-members
- $45/person day-rate for Saturday only (no camping)
All activities are included in your registration costs– extra shooting costs will be covered within reason by CFGA. Safety Instruction and “How to” Instruction are provided – for everybody interested!
Activities being planned include (all are no charge, until ‘extra’ shooting):
Scheduled Activities (schedule to be determined):
- Archery: instruction & 25 yard range (adults and kids)
, plus “3D walk-about target course” – 1-1.5 km course (experienced archers)
- Rimfire (.22): instruction and shooting – kids & adults
- Shotgun (Trap-shooting): instruction and shooting clays – kids and adults
- Centerfire (.223): instruction & shooting: 100, 200, 300 yards targets – kids and adults
- You may bring your own shotgun or rifle to use at the ranges, as long as it is ‘trigger-locked’ and cased
- Wildlife Identification Quest (74 items in ‘classroom’ at range)
- Survival In the Woods (kids and adults)
Other Activities (available to do at your leisure):
- Campfires Friday and Saturday evening
- Outdoors/Wilderness “Scavenger Hunt” for teams of kids
- Boating: 8 canoes, 2 row boats, PFD’s to use at your leisure
- Fishing at your leisure: bring your gear! Lake is stocked (marshy around shoreline)
